Zephyr Teachout ran a courageous and spirited campaign to expose Governor Cuomo's corruption and out of place Koch Bros.-backed conservatism. She was a Democratic Party candidate and the Democratic Party machine came crashing down on her, as Cuomo made explicit and implicit threats of withholding funding to get even the most progressive Democratic officials to endorse him. We now see more than ever the need to work to build a truly independent left political party, and we need a progressive political candidate to support against Cuomo. That party and that candidate are Howie Hawkins for NY Governor and Brian Jones for Lt. Governor, and the Green Party. They will be the only progressive choice on the ballot in November. Come hear Brian Jones outline a vision of a sustainable public education system that works for all, instead of Cuomo's agenda of privatization and high-stakes testing. See you soon!

Welcome back to school, NYC! Public schools start on Thursday 9/4. Remind your kids to prepare for inappropriately large class sizes due to underfunded schools, and for high-stakes Common Core testing that will determine if their schools can get more funding or will be shut down altogether. Then, next Wednesday 9/10, come to a forum to hear Green Party Lt. Governor candidate Brian Jones and a collection of education activists present a vision for a public education that works for all New York!

Brooklyn Greens are organizing this event to put forward an alternative vision for public education, rather than Cuomo's agenda of budget cuts, privatization, and high-stakes testing.
