Hawkins steps up to take on Cuomo, Governor 1%

Watch Capital Tonight with Liz Benjamin interview with Howie on his campaign.

Governor Cuomo delivered his annual State of the State address outlining his priorities for the coming legislative session. We heard more of the same from Governor 1%: Talk Left, Walk Right. Cuomo touted prosperity while practicing austerity.

Cuomo says he's providing tax relief for the middle class but his “reforms” will soak the working class by forcing local governments and school districts to make deep cuts. His tax reforms will push dozens of local governments toward insolvency and anti-democratic state takeovers by Financial and Educational Control Boards, like Detroit and Philly.

Read Hawkins' response to Cuomo's State of the State on the Green Party NY website.

Howie Hawkins is seeking the Green Party's nomination to run for Governor in order to advance the Green Party's platform for fundamental, structural change: Progressive Taxes and Revenue Sharing to end the fiscal crises of our local governments and schools, Tuition-Free Public Colleges and Universities, Single Payer Health Care, $15 Minimum Wage, Public Banking, Union Co-ops, a Ban on Fracking, a Climate Acton Program scaled up to meet the crisis, and more.

Are your ready to fight for change against the corruption and incompetence of the 1%'s political company unions known as the Democrats and Republicans and their Working Families and Conservative subsidiaries?

Cuomo has Wall Street, the Real Estate Barons, the Telecoms, and even the far right Koch Brothers bankrolling him. So will his Republican opponent. Until we Greens by the tens of thousands start funding own own organizers and campaigns, there is no way we can beat the political representatives of the 1%. When every committed Green contributes regularly, from each according to his or her means, then we will have the political force that will really change the way things are because it is people-powered and independent of corporate money and control.
