Ithaca activists with TOMPKINS COUNTY RISING are organizing this social event to bring together supports of two exciting progressive candidates in the race for Governor of New York State with a number of common views and goals:

Howie Hawkins, Green Party candidate 

Zephyr Teachout, Democratic Party candidate

Both Teachout and Hawkins:

• Understand that big money threatens our democracy. They will work for public financing of political campaigns and other measures to limit the influence of big money in politics. Governor Cuomo has not done this.

• Will ban fracking, curtail fossil fuel use, and build a renewable economy NOW. They grasp the reality of climate change. Governor Cuomo has not done this.

• Recognize the need for progressive taxation policy and full support of education. Governor Cuomo has not done this.

• Come hear from the campaigns of these two great candidates and participate in a constructive discussion of how to build a better New York.
