What: Brian Jones announces general election campaign for Lt. Governor, calls for debates

Brian Jones, the Green Party candidate for Lt. Governor, will hold a news conference in front of the Tweed Court House, 52 Chambers St., New York on Friday, September 12 at 11:30 AM.

Jones will call for a series of debates with his Lt. Governor opponents, Chris Moss of the Republican Party and Kathy Hochul of the Democrats. Jones said that the poor showing by Hochul in the primary and the lower standing of Moss in the polls shows that New Yorkers want an alternative to the two corporate parties.

Jones said that issues that should be debated include the Common Core and schools, criminal justice (Moss is a sheriff), immigrations, corruption and jobs.

Jones will also announce the Green Party support for the September 21st march in New York City for action on climate change.

Brian Jones taught elementary grades in New York City's public schools for nine years and he is currently working on a doctorate in urban education at the City University of New York Graduate Center. Jones is running with Howie Hawkins for Governor. They are polling at 7%.
