Hawkins in Binghamton to discuss Political Corruption, Fracking, July 9
Howie Hawkins, the Green Party candidate for Governor, will hold a news conference to discuss his campaign on Wednesday, July 9th at 11:00 a.m. on the lawn the Surrogate County Court House at 92 Court St. in Binghamton.
In light of the recent indictment of Senator Tom Libous, Hawkins will discuss his ideas for cleaning up corruption in state politics, including full public campaign finance reform.
Hawkins will also discuss his call for a ban on fracking in light of the recent Court of Appeals decisions upholding bans or moratoriums on fracking in nearly 200 local communities in the state.
Other issues will include Hawkins’ proposals related to reducing local property taxes while increasing funding for local governments and schools.
At 9:30 AM, Hawkins will take calls from local residents on the Bob Joseph show on WNBF, 1290. At 1 PM he will hold a meet and greet at the Endicott Book Vault, 46 Washington Ave., Endicott.
Hawkins is a working Teamster from Syracuse. He finished third out of seven candidates in the 2010 gubernatorial election.
