Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins also stopped in Binghamton today.

Hawkins is placing a big emphasis on divesting the state pension fund from fossil fuels and cracking down on corruption.

He believes climate change is the most pressing issue at hand and wants to make the transition to 100% clean energy by 2030.

Hawkins says this change would create jobs while also cleaning up the environment.

He says voters want a third option.

"The next break through is a major party, a third party, that represents the people instead of these two corporate funded parties. We know from public opinion polling that a majority of people want to see that. The number of independents not enrolled in either party is growing to where I believe they surpass both major parties. So all that bodes well for a third party," he said.

This will be Hawkins third time on the ballot for Governor.

He garnered a little over 1% of the vote in 2010 and around 5% in 2014.
